2023 Tax Return

I filed my 2023 tax return 10/19/24 with turbo tax. After revieing records today I do not think it was ever filed. After further investigatin I will need to mail 2023 in.

How do I get a refund from TT 2023 was never filed? I just paid for nothing.

If you were using the 2023 online editions, you could not e-file the 2023 return since it was after the extension date of 10/15/2024. The 2023 tax return had to be printed, signed, dated and mailed to the IRS

You did not pay for "nothing"----you paid for the use of software that helped you prepare your tax return instead of sitting down with a pile of paper forms, a pencil, a calculator and a 100+ page IRS instruction book. The fee for using TurboTax is the same whether you e-file or file it by mail.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

I am trying to retrieve my 2023 tax return so I can mail it IRS to be filed. From what I understand that is the only way I can file now.

Follow the steps below to print your 2023 tax return from TurboTax Online;

Sign in to your account
Select the down arrow by Your tax returns and documents
Select the year of (2023) the tax return that you want to print
Select Download/Print (PDF) your federal and/or state tax return(s)

I followed your instructions but there is not an option to download/print my return for 2023. All the other years I have this option. Only thing I am able to download is a .tax2023 file. I was also able to download my extension from 2023.

Did you originally prepare the return in TurboTax Online? If you already followed the steps in this help article to view, download, or print your prior year return, be sure you are using the same account login that you used when you prepared the return. If you used a different login, you won't see the 2023 return.

If you have the data file but can't locate your TurboTax Online account, this article shows how to switch to desktop. You would need to get a 2023 desktop version to complete your 2023 return. Contact TurboTax Support for assistance:

Hi My laptop I used last year crashed so I need a way to access my return fro 2023 but I have NO ARROW or anything online with TurboTax, and no screen re: downloads??
"Your tax returns and documents" doesn't appear anywhere, nor does those below? Can't find anything about downloading files or returns?

I bought TurboTax Basic (Federal Only) from Amazon on February 19th.
My computer crashed 4-5 months ago, so I cannot access my returns from 2023. I tried going online Intuit/TurboTax and downloading my return from 2023 but was NOT able to do it. There is a file in there NOW, but THAT FILE that is blank!! It came from me trying to reinstall my TurboTax from 2022 for the 2023 return!!

I need a copy of this so I can redo it and send it in because there’s mistakes on it and you got an old IRS owes me over $1100 and I need the money and I need the folder put in my account of TurboTax ASAP to get the IRS off my back if not, I’ll be filing a lawsuit against you guys

If you filed the 2023 tax return and it was accepted by the IRS, then to make any changes to the 2023 return you will need to amend the return.

To access your prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Start the 2024 online tax return by entering some personal information then click on Tax Home on the left side of the screen.

On the Tax Home webpage -

Scroll down to the section Your tax returns & documents. Click on the Year 2023 and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created. TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

Please clarify, did you use the Online version for 2023? Or the Desktop program installed on your computer? If you used the Desktop program then the only copy of your return is on that computer and not stored or saved Online. So if your computer crashed and you don’t have a backup it is gone for good.

No one else has access to your account; your files cannot be "sent" to you.

You have to access your own account and/or print it for yourself using exactly the same account and user ID that you used when you prepared the return.
