So I need to buy both the TT Home and Business and a separate TT Business to file my return, my son's independent contractor return, and my estate return?!?!

Yes, you will need Turbo Tax Business for your estate return. If you purchase a Turbo Tax Home and Business, you may file two separate returns, one for your son and another for yourself. You do not need to own a business to file your personal return in Turbo Tax Home and Business.
