Unfortunately, because TurboTax does not create external data objects like W-2s, TurboTax can't guarantee that the process will work. The taxpayer should always review what was imported just to make sure the data was imported correctly.

I imported my W2 and filed my return. Then I noticed the import entered my 401K deduction both as a deferral AND dependent care benefits (which definitely don't apply to me). There was also $$ listed in section 7 (SS tips) which don't apply to me. So I am being taxed on money I didn't receive. Frustrated.

I am told to let the IRS process and it may be corrected on their end. If not, I would have to file an amended return. Turbo Tax has not been great this year, tbh.

Whenever you import a tax document you should check the date carefully against the paper copy you have to make sure it all went into the software correctly. Sometimes the importing process scrambles things---you always, always, always have to check your data before you e-file. If the IRS does not catch the discrepancies, you can amend after the return has been fully processed.
