Do I pay extra for the federal returns I file? I need to file 4. Also will I be able to do simple returns along with the complex ones with this version?

The TurboTax desktop editions come with 5 free federal e-files. After the 5 are used then all other tax returns can only be printed and mailed at no charge. You cannot purchase more e-files, that number is set by the IRS.

You can enter any type of tax return using the desktop editions, complex or simple.

Note - if you also will be filing state tax returns, there is a $25 e-file fee for each state return e-filed. This charge can be avoided by printing and mailing the state tax returns.

If you have the desktop download Premier software you can prepare and e-file up to five federal returns and the state return that go with them. Every version of the desktop software has all the forms and schedules so you can prepare simple or more complex returns using Premier. There is an extra fee to e-file the state returns which you can avoid if you print and mail the state returns. If you need to file more than five federal returns the additional ones can be filed by mail.
