New 1099 Download Feature is Terrible!

Not a question.. but a serious complaint!

In the 2024 edition, Intuit changed the feature for downloading 1099s, consolidating all the information from multiple accounts on a single page. BAD MISTAKE!

Although the download process allows selecting which accounts I want to bring into TurboTax.. once they are downloaded, the software doesn't allow distinguishing between the 1099s from various accounts at the same brokerage, only listing them as 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-B, etc. I might as well have entered the information manually, because I need to open and search through all the PDFs from my brokerage in order see which one applies to each review! This is also necessary to adjust interest and dividends on joint vs. individual accounts.

This is a dumb and misguided change Intuit! Please put it back the way it was.

After having done a test return using my own accounts, I couldn't agree more.

There is just ONE heading for a particular brokerage followed by (underneath) the generic "Dividends (1099-DIV)", "Interest (1099-INT)", and "Stocks, bonds, etc. (1099-B)".

There is no indication of account numbers, etc., which means the only way to determine which came from which account is to inspect the actual tax reporting statements and look at the amounts on each one. Huge mistake in terms of the change to this year's import feature (giant step backward).

I was able to go back through each entry for 1099-INT and INT-DIV to identify the individual account, but I see absolutely no way to do that for the 1099-Bs.

Ugh.. Stupid!

I wouldn't touch their 1099 import or their online version with a 10 foot pole at this point. And given their disastrous UI changes for 1099 input I'm almost entirely working in Forms mode now. Something went seriously wrong at Intuit this year.

Intuit tried to hard to make it Tax Filing for Dummies.. but they're the dummies.

If we all had simple returns.. we wouldn't need to buy Turbotax!!!
