Filed 2021 tax but did not claimed Recovery Rebate Credit

I have filed the 2021 tax return on time but did not claim Recovery Rebate Credit. My husband and I have $1400 each on Economic Impact Payment 3, which we found out later. We did not receive any mail check nor direct deposit.

How can we claim it now in 2024 tax files as the deadline is April 2025? Today is 28th February 2025.

You will have to amend your 2021 tax return and mail it to the IRS on or before April 15, 2025.

If your IRS online account shows that you received the 2021 third EIP payment you will need to trace the payment.

If you need to trace a payment that the IRS says has been issued to you, mail or fax a completed IRS Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund.
