Yes if the return was rejected you can go back in and make necessary changes and then re-file. Names are edited in MY INFO. However, the IRS only uses the first few letters of the name. Does the name used match her current Social Security card?

If you are using the TurboTax online editions you can make changes to your spouse's information in the My Info section of the program. Edit your spouse's personal information.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state.

This will take you back to the 2024 online tax return.

Thanks for the respond. Yes, I can change the name in my info, but it does not change the name on the 1040 form, so I can't refile it. It would just get rejected again. I have found that you can change the info on the 1040 in the desk top and downloaded version, but not the online version?

I just did a test return where I entered the spouse's name incorrectly on the original tax return. Completed the return for filing by mail. In Print Center I viewed the 1040 and the spouse's name was incorrect. I then went back to My Info and corrected the name for the spouse. Completed the My Info section and the File section of the tax return. When back to Print Center and viewed the 1040, the name was correctly changed.

Suggest you check the name on the return after you have completed the tax return in the File section and are on Step 3.

Thanks, but my taxes have already been rejected so I can't do what you have suggested.
