Use the address that the IRS or your state should use NOW if they need to mail you a letter or a check. And make sure all of your mail is being forwarded from the old address to the new address by the post office. The IRS knows that people move all the time----the old address on your W-2, etc. will not be a problem.

If I moved in December can I used my previous address to file my taxes for that year? I was in an apartment and moved to a house with my spouse. We previously both had different addresses.

Why would I use the new address when I was at the old address for that year? Just curious!

And as long as you stayed in the same state before/after your move...then it's not a problem.

___________

If the new address is in a different state, then, depending on exactly when you moved...you might need to indicate that move when you enter your personal information about yourself....but even then, the new mailing address you should be entering has little/nothing to do with that.
