I didn't think I was entitled to the premium tax credit since I received Medicare. Maybe it is allowing it because I am disabled? But I didn't know that was an exception to the rule.

You do not get a premium tax credit unless you have marketplace health insurance and entered a 1095A. Not sure what you entered or where you entered it. If you have Medicare you do not have marketplace health insurance. Or----did you have healthcare.gov for part of the year and then go on Medicare? Please explain.

I am on both Medicare and the exchange. My 1095A, premium payments, and doctors can all confirm that I have insurance purchased on the exchange. And no, this is not new, I have been on Medicare for about 10yrs.

Did you have a Marketplace plan before becoming eligible for Medicare? If so, then Medicare is your primary payer and the Marketplace is your secondary payer.
