Good day,

our 21 yo son, had a part time job in 2024, earned more than 5K, was a full time student and was living with us the whole year. He will file his separate return, we the parents will claim him as dependent on our return. Is it him on his return or us on our return who will claim his college related expenses? I believe we were asked these questions 2023 year, but he was not working back then, so everything was filed via ours (parents) return.

Thank you in advance.

Dependents do not get education credits. The credit goes on your tax return.
