      <description>&lt;P&gt;I got it figured out.&amp;nbsp; I removed all version of TT and verified there were no windows updates available.&amp;nbsp; In a final ditch effort to clean up potential residual files from previous installs I installed the program CCleaner and deleted a lot of temporary files not needed.&amp;nbsp; While this may have made my PC run better this is not what fixed the 70001 error.&amp;nbsp; In the CCleaner program there is a scan that looks for out of date programs and it found that the program Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable was out of date.&amp;nbsp; So I went to Microsoft website and downloaded the 64 bit version update and installed it.&amp;nbsp; The install asked for a restart and once booted up TT acted as normal trying to update itself.&amp;nbsp; Below is the website to find the update.&amp;nbsp; Scroll to the first box you see and install either the x86 (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit) versions.&amp;nbsp; The version I got was&amp;nbsp;&lt;SPAN&gt;version&amp;nbsp;&lt;/SPAN&gt;14.42.34433.0&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;THIS DID NOT APPEAR IN NORMAL MICROSOFT UPDATES FOR ME.&amp;nbsp; I HAD TO DOWNLOAD THE INSTALL FILE AND RUN IT.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;A href="https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170" target="_blank" rel="noopener"&gt;https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Good luck out there,&amp;nbsp; we'll need it.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;This is the only thing that fixed my issue after 7 hours of tech support with Turbo tax and problem not resolved.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Removed all old 2024 software and installed Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributal.&amp;nbsp; Then reinstalled Turbotax.&amp;nbsp; No need to turn off anti viral or Windows defender.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

I first contacted Microsoft because I saw some comments about needing a specific update and I had no idea how to do that. &amp;nbsp;She said she downloaded the correct update, but when we tried installing it we received a message that it was already installed. So we uninstalled, reinstalled and got the same result. &amp;nbsp;I used your link and downloaded it and was up and running within 3 minutes! Prior to this I've spent a couple of hours on it today.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
