I have the desktop version of 2023 Turbo Tax for Mac and can get through all the income and deductions quite confidently with TT, until I get to my K-1 (1120-S). The interview questions don't really align with the content of the K-1.

Also, I need to verify that I filed an extension on our 2023 taxes in March 2024. I have a completed copy of the form, but I can't tell for sure that I filed it.

Please advise process to upgrade to live assist with 2023 tax year. Thank you.

The "Live" experts do not help with past year returns. We can answer questions here in the user forum.

Even you requested an extension for 2023---that extension gave you until October 15, 2024 to file the return. Now it is just late. If you are getting a refund or do not owe, there is no penalty for filing past the deadline. You have three years. If you owe tax due, it will be with late filing penalties and interest, for which the IRS will bill you later. TurboTax will not calculate those.

A 2023 return cannot be e-filed. 2023 can only be filed by mail now.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

Floridians have an extension til May 1,2025 to file 2023 and 2024 taxes, due to hurricanes. My taxes aren't late, and I really wish TurboTax would reconsider helping paid users with live help.
