State refund shows not processed

Why does my state refund still shows not processed and it’s been about a week since I filed.

i recieved an email from turbo tax that my state tax return has been accepted but when I check for the status of my refund, I get ‘your refund has not been processed.

Without knowing which state, it's a little harder to try to interpret the message but it sounds like it is a message related to the processing of the actual refund, and not the return. Are you able to determine that the state has received the return? If so, it is likely still in the processing phase.

It could also be, if your return was only recently accepted that the state database isn't yet recognizing that - some can take a few days to update.

The timing of processing varies widely from state to state.

If your state return has been accepted for processing, but you haven't received your refund, you can monitor it on the Maryland State website. A link is provided below.

Thank you for your response. I have tracked it several times on the state of Maryland’s tax refund status site but it shows ‘your refund has not been processed’
