The system is asking for her income because the 1095-A premium tax credit is based off the total household income. This includes the taxpayer, spouse, and any dependent claimed on the return. According to healthcare.gov, you follow these rules when determining the household income:

Include your spouse if you’re legally married.

If you plan to claim someone as a tax dependent for the year you want coverage, do include them on your application.

If you won’t claim them as a tax dependent, don’t include them.

Include your spouse and tax dependents even if they don’t need health coverage.

my fiancé received a 1095 a

He has a 17-year-old daughter. Who he claims as a dependent.

This is a court agreement

The 17-year-old daughter will be filing her own taxes as she works

She is not on his 1095A

Why does it ask for her income if she’s filing her own taxes?

Is there any way around listing her income if she’s doing her own taxes but is still being claimed as a dependent?

Is she REQUIRED to file a return? If she made less than $14,600 and does not have self-employment income of more than $400 and is only filing a return for a refund, then he does not need to include this income in the calculations. You can uncheck that box.

If she has self employment income of $400 or more or earned wages of more than $14,600, then yes, he will need to enter that income in that box. There is not a way around it as it would be counted as part of the household income.

Am I eligible for the Premium Tax Credit
