@Seidymenke93

Assuming that you are a US person ( citizen/GreenCard/ Resident for Tax purposes), yes you can file a 1040 with a status of Married Filing Separate. Note though that you still have to provide details of your spouse ( SSN, Name etc ) and will be limited to using the same type of deduction as that of the spouse ( Standard or Itemized )..

Generally MFJ is often more tax beneficial compared to MFS. If you have dependents for whom you maintain a household, you can also file as Head of Household

Is there more I can do for you ?

Yes, you generally can but make sure this is the best option for you because there are certain deductions/ credits that may be less beneficial.

Here's how to do this in TurboTax Online:

1. While logged into your TurboTax account, navigate to the left of the screen, under 2024 Taxes, choose My Info

2. At the top of the screen, under Your Info appears your name, click your name to expand options, then choose Edit

3. Continue through the interview pages until you arrive at About your household

4. Answer the question "What was your marital status on December 31, 2024? to change your filing status

Here is some information on filing separately: When Married Filing Separately Will Save You Taxes and How Should You and Your Spouse File Taxes? Married Filing Jointly vs Separately
