TurboTax Desktop program allows for the import of TXF files, but not excel or CSV. Because you have a 1099 that shows the sum of all of the data listed in your spreadsheet, you can use that to enter your 1099-DIV information instead of entering each 1099-DIV separately.

I have a spreadsheet showing all the 1099 information for approximately 100 separate 1099 DIVs. I also have what looks like a 1099, consisting of the sums of every box (except for name and TIN) Is there any way I can input these 100 1099's from the spreadsheet rather than tediously typing them all? BTW, this is not a broker who provides a consolidated statement .

Thanks. That would be ideal if it will work. What should I use as the name and FEIN on this aggregate 1099? (Remember this is not a consolidated statement like you would get from Vangard e.g.)

I was able to put in this total info as a 1099 in forms. I left FEIN blank, but step-by-step flags that as an error. Maybe use all zeros or will that freak out IRS computers?

Should I attach the spreadsheet showing a line for each individual 1099 as an attachment, if there is a way to do that in TT?

You do not have to input the FEIN for your combined 1099-DIV entry and can leave it blank. If you do get a review message, you should be able to bypass it and e-file your return.

Lastly, you cannot attach a PDF or any type of document to your return. I would suggest keeping it in your records in case the IRS asks for backup documentation.
