Can I file early but pay on the due date, Apr 15?

I need to file and pay State tax by Jan 31. But with TurboTax, I must file Federal in order to file State. Can I file Federal now but pay by Apr 15? In other words, must I pay at the time of filing?

You can pay anytime by April 15. If you pay by direct debit you can choose the date for the debit.
