If you're having trouble updating your TurboTax 2024 for Windows Individual software using the Online > Check for Updates method, here are instructions for how you can get the latest federal program update:

Close TurboTax and all other programs except this browser window.
Select this link to download the 319 MB update.
Save the update file to your Windows desktop.
Double-click the update file w_perrelsuperpatchIS_ttax_2024.exe on your desktop to install the manual update.

TurboTax Premier 2024 is not updating and the STATE will not download. On the below dates with the minutes I have spent a total of 6 hours being put through the ringer, uninstalled and reinstalled TurboTax Premier 2024 at least 7 times, disabled Norton 360, tried to manually do updates and the final response was they didn't know what to do and I needed to install on another computer, like I have a 2nd computer. They had no other answer. What kind of support is this? When does technical support come to my aid? And yes I did the following to no avail: update file w_perrelsuperpatchIS_ttax_2024.exe on your desktop to install the manual update.

1 hour 15 minutes 2/16/2025

3 hours 6 minutes 2/16/2025

uninstalled and reinstalled Turbotax Premier 2024 at least 7 times

For a number of years, Turbo Tax will not install updates. I tried today to install manually, and I got a message telling me that 2024 was not installed (it is). I looked for my downloaded file from my recent online purchase, and did not see it. I finally saw how to uninstall, but I am concerned that I will not be able to reinstall after I do that since I'm not finding (in downloads or anywhere else). I can locate this year's software in program files but not the file that I used to install it in the first place. This is the first time I have bought the software as a download, having previously purchased at a store.

I have attempted the manual update several times with no success. TT locks up when I try to update, showing either a 4, 3, or 1 minute process, but no progress is made. "Cancel" and "X" do not work. Previously the updates worked every time.

I am having the same issue with an extension filing. I paid $50 for some expert who tried to tell me the steps to filing when all I wanted to know why the software was not updating state information when it did the federal information. There is definitely a software issue and the blame game goes around. Frustrating.

I discovered that right-clicking and running as an administrator solved my problem. When I did that, the software updated.

Here's how to do a Manual Update if you're program is not updating properly.

Be sure to run as Administrator and on your C drive. Turning off anti-virus programs helps connectivity. Here's How to Turn Off Anti-Virus Programs.

Tubotax got a a new low. After trying the "superpach" that say I don't have turbotax installed I just decided will switch to ufile , same I am using for my biz.

When you open TurboTax and get the message that the program needs to update, and you say OK, what happens?

You can try a Manual Update.
