Import from Premier to Deluxe (Status Chenge)

Hi,

I filed as Joint last year(one last time since my husband passed away).

This year(for 2024), I'm fliling as Single.

I have a couple of stock investments(just little tiny gains), haven't sold any,

IRAs(inherited and mine),

foreign bank accounts for which I've had 8983s, and 1116s with just tiny interest gains over the years.

No house/mortgage

I've been using Premier, but this year, I'd like to use Deluxe.

Can I import files partially from Premier into Deluxe like bank/IRA informataion, foreign 8983/1116 as well as my information?

Yes the 2023 tax data file from the Premier desktop edition can be transferred to the 2024 Deluxe desktop edition.

But you should not Transfer from 2023. You may not be able to remove his name and other items . Especially if you were listed second. Are you using the Desktop program or the Online version? My husband died in 2023 too. I filed 2023 Joint. For 2024 I need to file Single. You need to start over with a new return and NOT transfer from 2023.

I've been using Desktop CD/download version and will be purchasing one at Costtco again.

@roset Hi, I buy mine at Costco too. Now I buy it from Costco online. If you go into the Costco store they are not selling CDs anymore, it's download only. Don't forget to go to the pickup window after you pay to get the actual package with the License Code. If you need help installing from the download post back.
