Since your spouse passed away in 2024, you can file your 2024 tax return as Married Filing Jointly.

When entering their personal information there will be a section where you need to indicate that they passed away during the year and enter the date of passing.

Once you have indicated in the Personal Info section that your spouse is deceased, you can file as you normally would as Married Filing Jointly.

When entering documents, you may be asked to indicate if it belongs to you or your spouse (such as a W-2, 1099-R, SSA-1099).

If the surviving spouse has a qualifying dependent and meets other requirements, they can file as a qualifying widow/widower for the two years following a spouse's death. That basically lets you continue to use the same tax brackets that apply to married-filing-jointly returns.
