I have 2 1099 r's that are for pensions that I have been receiving monthly payments for. This year for the first time now that I am 74 its asking about RMD. Do I answer yes that these are RMDs and enter the full amounts on the form ? When I finish and have the federal checked it keeps saying it needs to be looked at again. What is going on ? Never did this before but I guess it because of my age now and rmd requirement

Yes. It's whatever they send you. Say all of it is the RMD. If you are old enough to get RMD it will ask you if it is the RMD. Say yes and enter the amount as the RMD amount. The pension doesn't need to calculate any RMD. Anything your pension pays you is considered to be the RMD. Traditional pensions automatically fulfill the rules of an RMD. So just enter the same amount in box 1 for the RMD on each one.
