Very sorry for your loss. Yes, you should now have your own account. For the year that your spouse passed, you could use that account and file a joint return. But if you are now filing as Single, you need your own account and user ID. It is too difficult to remove the spouse's information from an account that was used for joint returns, and it will cause too many errors for you.

Make sure you download every PDF file of each tax return you filed under her account, and back them up offline on a USB flash drive.

At some time in the future, you might lose access to those older files, and it may help if you have the actual files in your possession as PDF files. They only go back 7 years, and TTX takes one older year PDF off that account in each succeeding tax year.
