Transferring 2023 tax data into 2024 premier desktop

I am trying to transfer 2023 tax info to a new 2024 return in the Premier version of TurboTax windows desktop, I have a windows 11 operating system.

When I click on" Transfer Return" button, I get a message "Reading the return" and the "Transfer Return" button has a yellow outline, but nothing happens. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thank you.

Are you trying to transfer from the .tax2023 file? Do you have any other .tax2023 files?

Here's an idea. Do you still have 2023 installed? Try opening 2023 program and see if you can get your 2023 return to show up in it. Go to FILE - OPEN. See if it is the right one. Then save it again with a name and place you can find. Go to File - Save As.
