    <description>&lt;P&gt;Female lived and worked in KS all year.&amp;nbsp; Male worked in KS all year but moved from MO to KS in March.&amp;nbsp; Got married Nov 2017.&amp;nbsp; Want to file Federal jointly as he's claiming his son,&amp;nbsp;but don't know if we should file KS jointly or separately. He will obviously need to file MO, but I shouldn't have to, correct?&amp;nbsp; Also, can we do all three online?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Yes.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;You can file federal jointly and states a different way.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Since male moved to Kansas with the intent of living and working in Kansas after only 3 months into 2017, he should&amp;nbsp;file a resident in KS.&amp;nbsp; That way you can do a federal joint and a Kansas joint.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Then he will do a part-year resident for MO married filing separately, the female does not need to file MO.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;It is possible to do all three online.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;TurboTax Online lets you prepare and e-file (or paper-file) up to&amp;nbsp;&lt;B&gt;five&amp;nbsp;&lt;/B&gt;state returns per federal tax return.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If you need to prepare returns in&amp;nbsp;&lt;B&gt;six or more&lt;/B&gt;&amp;nbsp;states, consider the TurboTax CD/Download software instead. Although the software only lets you e-file up to 3 states per federal return, you can prepare and paper-file as many states as you want.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;
  &lt;STRONG&gt;Tip:&amp;nbsp;When preparing returns in multiple states, it's best to do your nonresident and/or part-year resident&amp;nbsp;state returns first, and your resident state last.&lt;/STRONG&gt;
