I can't delete the 1099-Misc from Income. Is there a problem?

It shows a Start button; when I click it, it asks if I had a 1099-Misc in 2024; after I click No it goes back to the same Start button. How do I get out of this loop?

Tell it Yes and then delete the 1099-Misc that comes up. Just one of the weird things that happens sometimes in the software.

The answer from taxlady28 did not solve the problem. I still cannot delete the 1099-Misc from Income.

It sounds like had a 1099-Misc reported in 2023 that is no longer relevant in 2024. When you get to the question asking if you had a 1099-Misc in 2024, select yes even though you didn't.

This will bring up a list of any 1099-Misc reported in the prior year. To the right of any line item here, click the trash can next to it.

If you are using:

TurboTax Online: see How do I view and delete forms in TurboTax Online?
TurboTax Desktop:
1. On the top right, there is a FORMS button.
2. Click on FORMS.
3. Locate the form you want to delete.
4. Click on the form name.
5. Below the form, bottom left, select DELETE FORM button.

The first part of the solution does not work; it will not delete the 1099-Misc.

The second solution to use the "Tax Tool' on the left menu: I don't have a "Tax Tool" tab to select.

Since you don't see the Tax Tool, you should see a hamburger icon in the top left to select first. Then you can select Tax Tools

I'm having the same problem that you are. Delete is not working, and I keep getting into a loop which prevents me from exiting entering the one 1099 MISC form I have.

Are you using TurboTax Online? If so, you may be able to remove the form by following these steps:

Down the left side of the screen, click on Tax Tools.
Click on Tools.
Click on Delete a form.
Find the form listed and click Delete to the right.

In TurboTax Desktop, you are able to remove a form by:

Selecting FORMS in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
Select the correct form in the listing on the left side of the screen.
Select Delete Form at the bottom of the screen.

That finally worked. Clicking "Income & Expenses" in center -> Review, brings up the menu at left bar, then if you scroll the slider down, can finally see the elusive "Tax Tools" option. Could then delete the phantom 1099-Misc form. Thank you AmyC!
