Are you sure it is a W-2? Or is it something else---like a SSA1099?

They’re very difficult to find on some W2’s. Look directly beneath the name and address of employer. Sometimes you’ll find it at the bottom of form. If it is a W2 the employer ID must be on the form. Sometimes it’s referred to as Federal Tax ID number it’s 9 digits total. There’s 2 numbers then a dash followed by 7 numbers.

Ask your employer what or where it is. It should be a 9 digit number probably starting with 94 or 99 like 99-1234567
