Desktop Downgrade from Deluxe to Basic

I have always used desktop cd for as many years as I can remember. I have used Deluxe as well and want to know if I can downgrade to Basic and if it will import my information from last year. And if so, is there anything I could do with Deluxe that I cannot do with Basic?

You can use the Basic desktop edition. All the TurboTax desktop editions include the same forms, schedules and worksheets. You receive more help and guidance with the higher editions.

However, there is Not a free state tax return program download included with the Basic edition. If you need a state tax return you would to purchase and download a state program. The cost for one of the state programs is currently $40.

Thanks so much - I do not need a state form and also one more question. If I go with the Basic, will it update all my information from last years form from Deluxe?

The 2023 tax data file from the Deluxe edition can be transferred to the Basic edition 2024 tax return, when you start a new 2024 tax return.
