The TurboTax tax data file for tax year 2023 has a file extension of .tax2023. You wrote .txf2023

If what you imported was truly a .txf file that is from accounting software and would not have any personal information.

with Turbotax you do not import the prior year into the current year. first you need the prior year xxxxx.tax2023 file. When you open 2024 Turbotax select start a new return, then it will look for the 2023 file. you may have to browse to find it. once found select it and then the 2024 app will transfer the 2023 data.

txf files are import files for things like k-1s and 1099s. they are not your complete prior year return. and you can import a 2023 txf into the 2024 app.

If you meant the file ending in .tax2023, where did you get it? If you used the 2023 Desktop program,

Here's an idea. Do you still have 2023 installed? Try opening 2023 program and see if you can get your 2023 return to show up in it. Go to FILE - OPEN. And see if that is the right one.

In the 2023 program do a File-Save AS and give it a easy name you can find or search for. And note where it saves it or select where to save it so you can find it again. The file will end in .tax2023. Then close the 2023 program. Then start a new 2024 return and transfer from the 2023 file.

The tax data file with a file name of TXF 2023.tax2023 is not a normal TurboTax tax data file name. Did you change the name of the tax data files by editing the file name?

When TurboTax is used to save the tax return the name of the file would be in this format, using the last name of first taxpayer shown on the return and their first initial-
