I am trying to do my taxes on my iPad. Choose windows download instead of Mac. Would like a refund and will start over

And sorry to tell you but you can not use the Mac download either. You need a full Windows or Mac computer, not an iPad or any mobile device. So ask for a full refund.

If you don't have a full Windows or Mac computer and can't use a relative or friend's computer you will have to go to a local tax place. Or fill out the blank forms by hand.

What year do you need? If you want to file for free you can fill out the forms by hand. Here are some basic forms…..

Then when you do file 2024 enter 0 for the 2023 AGI since you are filing 2023 late.

You have to print and mail prior year returns. When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return. Don’t forget state.

Important! Mail Federal and State in separate envelopes and mail each year in separate envelopes.

The only thing you can do with an iPad is use the iOS app, that is just a portal to Turbotax Online, the web version that also works from any computer with a web browser. Unfortunately, Turbotax Online is, or will soon be, closed for 2023 tax returns. So if you want to file for 2023 using Turbotax, you will have to find, borrow, or buy a Mac or PC to install the program from the download.
