I received my social security in 2024, but I need to file my 2023 taxes, because of the Omaba Care health insurance. I cannot file my 2023 using my social because it did not exist in 2023. Should I get an ITIN for that year or file with my SS and send a letter explaining the situation?

Fill out the taxes using the SS number, then print out the form and use whiteout over the SSN number. Write "No SSN" where the number was. You can include a note explaining what happened. Social Security number is not retroactive for previous year. Forms will have to be mailed.
