How to Access prior year online returns
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/prior-year-return/help/how-do-i-access-my-prior-year-return/00/27010

If you can't get the side menus to open up to access the prior year..... You need to start entering some basic Personal Info in 2023 for the side menu to open up. Just continue a little ways into 2023. I had to go though about 12 screens.

If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online. So you need to make and keep your own backups.

Or request a transcript from the IRS
https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

Or get a copy of your return using form 4506
https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

Did Alabama get paid the tax due? You can never have the state tax due deducted from a federal refund. NEVER. At the end Turbo Tax just shows you the net federal and state combined. But that is only for your info. You will still get the full refund and need to pay a tax due.

Your only proof of payment is your bank statement or credit card showing the payment coming out. Turbo Tax only passes your bank account number to the IRS or state for them to take it out of your account. You better check that the state got paid. Check the printout or PDF of your return; look for the state cover sheet with the Turbotax logo. If you owed tax, it will show the payment information and how/when you decided to pay. Read the state payment instructions carefully since most states cannot be paid from within the TT system and requires additional steps.

So are you saying you never got the Federal IRS refund? It should be for the full amount unless the IRS changed your return. Then they would send you a letter.

Are you sure the returns got filed and Accepted? When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. what does it say?

Then when you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepte.d or Rejected your efile. Check back though your emails if you have them.

In the PDF of your TurboTax return, the last page of the federal return should be an "electronic postmark" that shows your name, Social Security number, the date and time that you e-filed the return, and the date that the IRS accepted it.

While you can't elect to pay your state taxes out of your federal refund, as VolvoGirl mentions, your state can request that the US treasury withhold past due taxes via treasury offset, which may be what you're referring to.

These typically do not delay any additional funds due to be refunded to you by more than a day or two.

If your delay is longer than that, you may want to reach out to the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or check HERE.
