When I completed my State return, I ended up owing more than $2000. I arranged for it to come out of my bank account on April 15. A few days later I questioned myself why I had to pay, so I rechecked my return and found that when I scanned my pay documents, TurboTax didn't include my state withholding, and I had neglected to check it for accuracy. I filed an amended return and am actually due to get about $2000 back.

On April 15, the state still took out my $2000. How and when will that be returned and my refund be sent?

It depends on the state. Amended returns take longer to process because they are handled by individuals. Best guess is two to six weeks. You can check on the status by contacting the state. Here's a list of State Departments of Revenue.
