      <description>&lt;P&gt;No, she won't be penalized for amending, but she will have to pay back any extra she received for claiming the extra child.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;You can send it shortly after she amends, as it will take a while. &amp;nbsp;This will delay your refund as well.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;No----waiting will not help you. &amp;nbsp; The only way you can file &amp;nbsp;and claim that same child is by mail. &amp;nbsp; You have been blocked from e-filing with the child's SSN on a 2023 tax return and even if you wait for months, you will not be able to e-file using the child's SSN. &amp;nbsp;Print, sign and date your return in ink, and mail it. &amp;nbsp;No, there is not a penalty for amending.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.&lt;SPAN class="Apple-converted-space"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/SPAN&gt;Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
