Your 2015 tax return shows your 2015 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) If you filed a joint return then the AGI is the same for each of you.

Form 1040EZ line 4

Form 1040A line 21

Form 1040 line 37

If you are using the same TT account that you used last year, you should also be able to find this number in your Tax Timeline for 2015

If entering the amount from your 2015 tax return does not work, then try entering “0” instead. If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.

You can get a free transcript of your past return from the IRS:

  https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

Note: If you filed late or amended your return, your correct 2015 AGI may not be in the system. The IRS database may have errors for 2015 AGI's. A number of people have experienced rejections from the IRS even when entering correct AGI's from their 2015 returns. When it happens, you just have to mail the return.

Note: If you mail your federal return, you will also need to mail your state return. You will not be able to e-file your state return.

I entered zero on tha AGI to begin with. It was rejected. I went and got a IRS trans script for 2015, which took nearly an hour for two pieces of paper, entered the AGI from said papers. Rejected. So far my claims have neem rejected for a total of 4 times in as many days.

When you run into those types of blockages...You are just beating your head against a wall..

....you just change your filing process to
.
......File By Mail....print out your tax return(s)...sign/date them, and attach any W-2 forms (federal copy to the IRS and state copy to your state) you have, also any other tax forms that show withholding. Then mail them off at the post office.

1) always use a tracking, method (Certified mail is easiest)
2) The federal and state forms are sent to their own separate addresses (sorry if that is obvious to you, but yes, some people don't seem to know that).
3) Make sure you keep separate printed copies for yourself in a tax file...don't depend on having access to those forms in electronic format later on...Desktop users have their computers crash...Online users lose track their Online tax accounts..all kinds of future "issues". Keep a hard copy.....or a safe-place "Backed-up" electronic copy..
