Submitting Virginia Tax return

Hello,

I am currently working on me and my wife's taxes. We were both residents of different states most of 2023 so I am doing the desktop version Turbo Tax to file married filing jointly on our federal return, but doing mock returns to do married filing separate for our state taxes (Iowa and Virginia) and submitting the state paperwork thru mail.

For my Virginia tax return it asks for the federal tax return and it's schedules for the complete package to mail.
Should I attach the MFJ federal tax return or the mock MFS federal return I prepared to fill in my Virginia tax return?

You will need to attach the MFJ return. You have to attach the one that has officially been filed.
