To indicate your penalty exemption, please follow these steps:

In your return, click the Health Insurance tab.
Mark the appropriate radio button and click Continue.
On the screen, Did you have a situation that waives the tax penalty for being uninsured, mark the box Applied for a penalty exemption and then scroll down to the last section and click the box Had a hardship
