I am using desktop version to do e-file and I got the following message once I transmitted:

FAILED_VALIDATION. There is an update available for your version of Turbo Tax. Before you can file electronically, you'll need to get this update.

A Federal return that matches this state return could not be found. The IRS requires that all linked state returns be filed after or in conjunction with the Federal return.

My problem for first issue is I am using desktop and usually it sent me update request if there is one but I did not get any and I don't know where can I get it on the desktop version manually.

Regarding the second one, turbo tax have both to be filed so not sure what is the problem. I am currently in HK and not sure if it is a problem.

Any suggestion or advise?

Here are several troubleshooting steps that you can try:

If you are using a downloaded version, uninstall and reinstall the program from your MyDownloads folder. How do I find my TurboTax for Windows software download?
If that doesn't help, or you downloaded TurboTax from a CD, try a manual update. What is a manual update?
Turning off your VPN and anti-virus software during the update can help as well.

will I lose my data when I uninstall the software as today it happened temporarily?

Be sure to save the file and then you will not lose anything.

Actually I found the download function on the top of the screen under the Turbo Tax Icon next to Safari, everything is fine now.
