Need a quick FIX! Requiring me to enter a Part l 2a registration number. Will not let me proceed to E File.

I'm not 100% sure it fully works because I haven't actually submitted the e-filing because I have a different form 3468 error I haven't resolved but when getting this error on review if I just keep clicking continue after it asks for this number it tells me it all looks good now.

This problem still exists. It is a known problem other people trying to use form 3468 are having. My "click past" solution does not work as I have now tried to efile and it will not let you unless you fix this problem. It is a problem in the software both in online and desktop as I have now tried both. The program believes this number is required and it is not. Anyone using this form is likely stuck. There are other posts on professional accountant forums where they are all also stuck.

This is on the IRS Known Issues Report. There is a workaround provided for this issue. If you enter ""TMXXX99XXXXX" on Line 2a, this will allow you to e-file.

There is another problem with form 3468 that I spent 2 hours on the phone with a rep on and why I have used both online and the desktop version. The software does not correctly transfer the amount listed on part VI line 32 to the form 3800 worksheet. It transfers double the amount listed. Our solution was to use an override in the desktop software. I'm hoping that doesn't also prevent me from filing. I'll find out later today now that hopefully your solution to this problem works. I hope people are paying attention when using this form as this issue I'm describing causes you to attempt to claim double the tax credit you should be. If you overrun your liability using this credit you may not even notice you took it twice.

Thank you again. I'm going to attempt the override. If that doesn't work I guess I'll wait and see if it gets resolved through the software correctly.

As an update this solution did work to get it filed with this registration number issue and so far has taken it with the override I had to put in for the other issue. Not accepted yet but did get filed. If it gets accepted I'll update again

I posted yesterday about the problem of doubling the credit transferred from form 3468 to form 3800 after spending hours and hours on the phone with TurboTax over the weekend trying to troubleshoot the issue with several different customer service representatives. They finally gave up and said they were going to open an investigation into the matter but couldn't tell me when the problem might be solved. Thanks for the override suggestion--can you tell me exactly how you accomplished it? I am also using desktop software (TT Home and Business, Windows). My theory was that the system was for some reason creating a duplicate copy of form 3468 and entering a doubled total number based on having two 3468s. No extra form showed up in the forms list but a hint of it DID show up when I ran an error check and it flagged TWO separate errors related to the lack of a number in line 2a, which was something I was also dealing with. When I put a number in line 2a (any dummy number the system would accept, including the one suggested here on this forum), BOTH of the error flags went away. (But the error of the doubled credit remained.)

However, if one does this, one apparently can't efile.....

And it may void TurboTax's accuracy guarantee (ironic, in this case).

I did the override and it let me efile. At least so far. Not accepted yet but filed. Since this is a known issue I think I'd have a pretty good argument that the override should not void the accuracy guarantee if it came down to it at some point.

I enter "TXXXX99XXXXX, still is not work, it is terrible. I paid to efile state, since I cannot efile federal, and now the state cannot efile too. and cannot got refund, they ask me to use mail file. turbotax is terrible.
