Mac M1 app: where is it?

I'm a longtime customer. I just purchased from Amazon and downloaded TurboTax Deluxe Desktop 2023 for Mac.

When I ran the app, it said it was x86 and couldn't run on my M1 Mac, unless I installed the Rosetta emulation software. I confirmed that it was an x86-only app. Reviews say running Turbo Tax under Rosetta emulation is terrible performance.

How do I get the Mac M1 version of the app?

The x86 program sounds like the Windows program. You needed to download the Mac version. Did you buy the wrong version? Call support and see if you can get the Mac download.

Thanks, but it is the Mac version. The app is for the wrong processor: x86.

Like most Macs sold in the last 3 years, my Mac uses the M1 processor.

How do I get the TurboTax desktop app for Mac M1?

There is one version of TurboTax for Mac for each version level (Deluxe, Premier, etc.). When I installed TurboTax for Mac this year, I also got the message to install Rosetta. I did, and have not experienced any performance problems to date.

Rosetta 2 enables a Mac with Apple silicon to use apps built for a Mac with an Intel processor.

Starting with certain models introduced in late 2020, Apple began the transition from Intel processors to Apple silicon in Mac computers.

Mac computers with Apple silicon:

MacBook Pro introduced in 2021 or later, plus MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020)

MacBook Air introduced in 2022 or later, plus MacBook Air (M1, 2020)

iMac introduced in 2021 or later

Mac mini introduced in 2020 or later

Mac Studio introduced in 2022 or later

Mac Pro introduced in 2023

The system requirements for TurboTax for Mac computers for tax year 2023 are:

macOS Monterey 12 or later (macOS Big Sur 11 not supported)

Specific macOS: macOS Monterey 12, macOS Ventura 13, macOS Sonoma 14

I have the same problem. I just downloaded the Mac version of Turbotax Desktop Premier and when I try to run it on my new Macbook Pro (Apple M3 chip) with Sequoia 15.1, it says I need Rosetta.

My computer meets the minimum requirements for Turbotax.

Is there a version of Turbotax that works on Apple silicon??

You can still use TurboTax for Mac if you have Apple Silicon. There is one version of TurboTax for Mac for each version level (Deluxe, Premier, etc.).

These are the minimum system requirements for TurboTax Desktop software for Mac, 2021–2024:

Operating system

2024: macOS Ventura 13 or later
2023: macOS Monterey 12 or later
2022: macOS Big Sur 11 or later
2021: macOS Catalina 10.15 or later

Hard drive space: 1 GB

RAM: 4 GB or more recommended

Internet connection: 1 Mbps modem (Broadband connection highly recommended). Required for product activation, software updates, and optional online features.

Monitor resolution: 1024×768 or higher recommended

Printer: Any Mac-compatible inkjet or laser printer (if you want to print your tax return or any tax forms)

If you have the M1 or later chip, you may be prompted to install Rosetta.

Rosetta 2 enables a Mac with Apple silicon to use apps built for a Mac with an Intel processor. Installing Rosetta should not interfere with your TurboTax experience. I used it with the 2023 program last year with no problem.
