Divorced | Can I file Single?

Tax Year 2022 - I was married all year. I filed Married Filing Jointly.

April 12, 2023 - Divorced.

Tax Year 2023 - How must I file... can I file Single? Please advise. Thanks.

Yes, you can file single in 2023.

You were correct to file Married filing jointly in 2022 because you were still married at the end of the year.

You can file single in 2023 because you were divorced and single at the end of the year.
