Routing Number Error

Hello,

I am getting an error saying my routing number is too many characters. I imported with my 2022 tax return and also verified that my routing number is in fact correct. I noticed this question has been asked and the only feedback given was to ensure that the software is up to date. I confirmed that my software is up to date. Please advise.

If you are using Desktop Software:

1. Open TurboTax software, then open the file you are working on.

2. Open the "forms" tab at top left.

3. Scroll down to where the banking information is and the routing box will be yellow with the routing number and the word routing number behind it.

4. Clear the box and move the cursor out of the box, then re-enter the cursor in the box and enter your routing number and that should fix it.

Thank you for solving this issue. I've been talking to Turbotax support for 4 weeks trying to get a resolution without success. Your suggestion corrected the issue with the bank routing number not being accepted. I was told a multitude of things to do including clearing my cache, cookies, rebooting my iMac multiple times. All I had to do was go into forms and clear out my routing number, click somewhere else then reenter the number again.

Please pass this information to all the Turbotax support specialists who don't know this information. Maybe create a tech tip and distribute ASAP.

Is there a similar resolution for users who employ TurboTax Online? I'm encountering this same bug in Routing/Banking numbers after importing a 2022 Desktop TurboTax file into TurboTax Online for use in filing 2023 taxes. Bad data in these fields isn't being cleared by my correct entries online, and attempts to change reimbursement to paper check for e-filing appear to be stymied by this error.

Hello,

I can only speak of the issue based on using the software on my desktop. Try to see if you access the files the same way suggested in the resolution. Otherwise I suggest contacting Turbotax support.
