My California SDI withholding was $1601.60...exactly the maximum for 2023. TT will not let me file electronically because it said the maximum allowed is $1378.48. So it keeps looping. It appears that TT has an error here since the max is actually $1601.60.....how can I e file California.?

Yes, $1378.48 is the maximum contribution for 2023.

Effective 2024, there is no maximum SDI contribution, and the rate goes up to 1.1% from 2023's .9%.

I would change the amount on my W-2 to be able to Efile, then contact my employer.

Here's more info from CA Employee Development.

@mikehasser

No there is a new max for 2023. That was for max for 2022. For 2023 the max for CA SDI/VPDI is $1,378.48 ($153,164 wages x 0.9%).

CA SDI Form 540 instructions scroll way down to line 74
https://www.ftb.ca.gov/forms/2023/2023-540-booklet.html

Either your employer didn't update the SDI rate or you have or entered a 2022 W2.
