Using TT Deluxe desktop, accidentally deleted a section -can it be recovered?

While using Deluxe desktop software, I accidentally deleted "Rent & Royalty" carryover from last years import...is there a way to recover this information? Thanks in advance!

You can go into the Rental Property section and enter the loss manually.

Go back into Federal

Wages and Income

Rental Income Edit

Then scroll through to the two screen shots listed below.

Problem is, it was a carryover from last year's return -automatically entered when TT imported from last year. I no longer rent the property, so my initial reaction when I got to that section was to delete it. Apparently there was quite a carryover and when I deleted it, it raised my tax due significantly. Was hoping there was a way to "Undo" my goof.

Alternatively, is there an easy way to simply delete the return I goofed on at the beginning of launching TT and just start over anew? (I seem to remember it being difficult to completely delete a- return in progress from the past)

Yes you can start a new return to transfer from 2022 again. You don't need to delete this return although you might want to. Just go up to the top File - NEW.

TO DELETE

You can delete a tax return from within the TurboTax Windows Desktop Program on the very first screen after starting the program or go to File-Open. Click on the large square icon representing the file you wish to delete (avoid clicking the blue "Continue" button). Then just hit your delete key and answer the prompt.

OR Start the program and on the first page click the blue Find A Tax File link at the bottom of the box. Then in the list that pops up you can right click on the file and choose delete.

Or you can delete it from Windows. You can delete the wrong return like any other file on your computer. The tax files end in .tax2023 and should be in your Documents folder and then in a Turbo Tax subfolder. Or search your computer for all .tax or .tax2023 files.

So, am I to assume there is no "Undo" function to recover what got deleted? I'd love to save a couple hours entry time, but can delete and restart fresh in order to get it right.

Thought the question was answered very well by @VolvoGirl

But specifically the answer is No, there is not an Undo function in the software when a form is deleted by the user.

Thanks.....you are correct -VolvoGirl did provide an excellent answer to all but my last question. I've been in "limbo" since Sunday, wondering if there was an "undo"....and now I know. I'll close the thread and award VolvoGirl with the best answer.
