Yes, the returns will be separate. You simply need to click on File, then Start New Return. You can create as many returns as you want with TurboTax Desktop. You are limited to e-filing five returns, but you can create and mail as many as you like. If your mother lives in different state you will have to pay for an additional state. There is not additional cost for the federal return.

Yes if you have the Desktop installed program you can do unlimited returns and efile 5. Go up to the top black menu line File - New. Yes each return us separate and saved in a file ending in .tax2023. You get 1 free state PROGRAM download. Then each state return including the first one is $25 to efile (except NY if free) or you can print and mail state for free. If you need to file in a different state you have to buy another state program for $40.

If you have the Online version with the black menu bar down the left side it is only good for 1 return per account. But you can use the same email address for 5 accounts. How to start another return in the Online version

Yes, you can start another return for your daughter's taxes and it will be saved in a file totally separate from your own when using TurboTax Desktop. Just make sure to use file names that are distinctive when you save it for the first time so that you don't get her taxes confused with yours. Since she lives in another state, TurboTax will prompt you to buy/install a different state tax program when you get that far.
