Can I use this turbo tax software to file another persons return?

I have filed a return using this current software download from Turbo Tax. Now I need to file another return can I use this same software or buy more?

When you use Online TurboTax, you get one return per fee. Each return needs its own account and user ID. If you use the same account and user ID for a second return, you overwrite the first one and lose it forever.

You can e-file 5 tax returns using the same TurboTax Desktop software. If you use TurboTax Online to file multiple returns, each tax return will need its own Intuit Account with a unique user ID and password. Plus, each tax return will be subject to its own fees.

If I use the same turbo tax deluxe desktop software to file 2 different tax returns, does each person need to create their own intuit account?

No. When you use desktop you do not keep logging in to "online accounts". When you use desktop software you just open the program on your own computer and go up to File (top left of your screen) and click it to get New Tax Return to do a second return. You can prepare and e-file up to five federal returns using desktop.

Thanks for your quick response! Follow up question to your response - can I create a new tax return to “test” to see which filing status is best for me & my spouse & not necessarily file that tax return?

Yes---if you have desktop software you can prepare as many "test" returns as you like.

What is time deadline on April 15 if using desktop version? Is it for current time zone? If I owe taxes, when I file using desktop version, can installment payment be sent after April 15 or must it be sent on April 15?

The tax deadline is midnight April 15 in the time zone that the tax return is being sent from.

If you owe taxes payment is expected on or before April 15th. Any amount owed that is unpaid after April 15th is subject to interest and penalties.
