1099-B Worksheet incorrect code N (nominee)

TurboTax 2024 Premier 1099-B worksheet has an adjustment code N that's incorrect.

This results in a later error that no adjustment amount was entered.

The 1099-B is mine - I didn't receive it as a nominee for someone else.

Why is turbotax insisting on using code N? How is it determining this?

It won't let me delete the adjustment code N on the worksheet

Morgan Stanley isn't open until Tuesday (Bank Holiday Monday). Plan to call them - it could be a software issue on their side downloading incorrect data.

Rumor has it that Etrade has ack'd the problem and is working on a fix. Hopefully a communication to 1099 recipients will be forthcoming giving more information and announcing the timing of a fix.

After the update TT desktop says "1099 import unavailable, try after Feb 26st". Maybe it's on hold till MS also fixes something at their side?

The issue with 1099-B's incorrectly importing with adjustment code N has now been resolved. Please delete your imported 1099-B, update your TT Desktop software, and then re-import.

Confirmed it's resolved. As of today, the import of 1099 worked just fine. Thanks for fixing this!

In TurboTax Online, follow these steps to remove an investment sale transaction.

Down the left side of the screen, click on Federal.
Down the left side of the screen, click on Wages & Income.
Scroll down to Investments and Savings and click the down arrow to the right.
Click Start / Revisit to the right of Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other.
At the screen Let's finish pulling in your investment income, click the down arrow to the right of the 1099-B investment.
The Edit and delete trashcan become visible.
To edit or delete an individual line with the IRS form 1099-B entry, select Edit. Individual lines become available.
Bulk Edit may be available by clicking the box to the left of the line.
The pencil icon is used for editing the line.
The trashcan delete icon is used to remove that line.

The Edit button and trashcan are in the lower left hand corner of the screen.
