I received the letter today to verify identity. If they ask you to verify a 2022 W2, will that be the 2021 one you filed in 2022 or the one labeled 2022 that was filed in 2023? I'm confused bcuz I don't want to give them the wrong information and be denied. I'm going to verify online.

It'll be the W-2 that is labeled 2022 that you filed on your 2022 taxes in 2023.

What if I have not yet filed that W-2 which says 2022 for 2023? Will they still ask for that information if I haven't filed it yet?

Did you file your 2022 taxes by April 18, 2023?

The W-2 form with tax year 2022 is what needs to be verified. If you haven't filed for 2022, then you will need to do so as soon as possible. You would need to purchase a prior year product here.

For tax year 2023, you can use TurboTax online or desktop products here.
