uninstalled deluxe version Turbo Tax, downloaded Home&Business Version, but it won't open on my computer, what do I do?

purchased Deluxe version of Turbo Tax, helped friend do their taxes with their own intuit account. Purchased Home & Business version Turbo Tax. Tried to install. system won't allow two versions of Turbo Tax. Uninstalled the Deluxe version. Downloaded Home & Business version, installed. However when open Turbo Tax, it does NOT open the home and business version and still shows Deluxe version with friends information.

With TurboTax desktop open:

Select Help in the upper left corner
Move your cursor down to Switch product
Select H&B
Follow the onscreen prompts

You have already done all of this...so too late now.....but what you did was not necessary at all. If you already had the 2023 CD/download for Deluxe on your computer, and you wanted Home and Business, all you needed to do was upgrade to Home and Business and pay the difference between Deluxe and H& B. There is an "upgrade" button on the top of your TT tool bar that you could click to upgrade to that higher version of the desktop software.

Let me know if that works to switch. If that doesn't work or tries to make you pay to upgrade to Home & Business. You can only have 1 program installed . You didn't need to buy 2 programs. You could have used the H&B version for all returns or even use Deluxe. All the Desktop programs have the same forms. You just get more help in the higher versions. Maybe you can get a refund for one of them.

And the tax returns are not stored or saved in the program but in separate data files ending in .tax2023. Just go up to FILE - NEW TAX RETURN.

Oh maybe you can. One user wanted to buy another license and found…..
There are other reasons why I wanted my own licensed copy, and I was wanting to know how to apply said license. I went ahead and purchased the new license and I found that there is a 'help / switch product / Activate New Product' option, and there I was able to enter the new license. After doing this, I can see both new and old licenses in that 'switch product' dialog.
