You cannot add a child as a dependent on your federal tax return until after the child is born. You can add the child on the 2024 tax return that you file next year.

Or are you referring to a state tax return for an unborn child?

While a bill was introduced for federal, only the state of GA currently allows the deduction for an unborn child. You have to enter the unborn child in the GA program. Follow these steps:

Open your GA state return
continue to a screen that says "Here's the income that Georgia handles differently."
Locate Miscellaneous
Locate "Dependent Personal Exemption for Unborn Children.", start
