In 2022 I had my return pushed forward to apply to 2023 taxes. I also paid quarterly estimated taxes. My first quarter estimated tax was reduced by the amount carried over from 2022. Do I enter the total carryover plus quarterly in the tt estimated taxes or just the amount I sent in 2023.

You enter the amount applied from 2022 separately from the estimates. Only enter the actual estimate payments you made.

APPLIED FROM LAST YEAR

If it didn’t transfer over from last year, then enter a refund from last year that you applied to this year here. BUT first make sure it’s not already there. You don’t want to apply it twice. It will be on line 26.

Federal on left

Deductions and Credits at top

Then scroll way down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid

Income Taxes - Click the Start or Revisit

Next page scroll down to 2022 Refund Applied to 2023

Click Start or Update by the tax you applied

PAID ESTIMATES

To enter Federal or State Estimated Taxes Paid, including a state estimated payment made in January for the prior year, go to

Federal on left or at top. Personal (Home & Business)

Deductions and Credits

Then scroll way down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid

Estimated - click the Start or Update button
